She is expected to become the eldest mother in Britain soon, when she gives birth. She got pregnant after conceiving in vitro at a fertility clinic. Many are questioning her motives for having a child at her age and thinks she’s selfish and irresponsible because it’s unfair to the child that she will not be able to take care of for long. Others, are just happy for her and hope it works out well for her.

I am shocked by the news and amazed by the wonders of medicine and technology. I don’t judge her. I respect her choice. On the other hand, I understand the views of other people who are mad and are criticizing her decision. I just hope that she can cope all the mental and physical energy needed in raising a child and remains fit and healthy. According to news, she’s financially secure. Maybe she can hire a nanny to help her out, if she wants to.

If I were on her shoes, I probably would not take all the risks and responsibilities of having a child at 66. But I don’t judge her especially that there are bunch of irresponsible mothers out there that just pops out kids and don’t take care of them, neglect their own babies and abuse them. Plus, every loving and willing woman have the right to become a mother. This woman wants her child. The only concern is her age because the probability that she will live to see her child grow up is smaller compared to other younger women.
